Bénédicte and Wouter on BrickJobs: “The construction industry needed its own payroll platform”

Do you want to draw up employment contracts in just a few clicks, without any extra hassle? It is possible with BrickJobs, a brand-new platform from Vivaldis that immediately takes care of all the necessary paperwork. Bénédicte Baucy, CEO of Vivaldis, and sales manager Wouter Bossuyt explain why the construction sector needed this innovative tool.

How did BrickJobs come about?

Bénédicte: “Vivaldis Construct has nearly 20 years of expertise in the construction sector. There is a need for flexible and fast contracts in that sector, including during the weekend. We also noticed that more and more construction companies were using Vivaldis Payroll, our digital platform for flexible contracting. The construction sector clearly needed a specific platform. That is how BrickJobs was born.”

Why do you think digitalization in the construction industry is progressing so slowly?

Bénédicte: “Take temporary unemployment due to bad weather, for example. That was digitalized by the government two years ago, although the business owner still has to enter a lot of data manually. But in the construction sector, the owner is often on-site, leaving less time for administration and follow-up.”

Wouter: “Furthermore, Joint Committee 124 (PC124) has high safety requirements and many legal obligations. Just think of Dimona certificates and registration on Checkin@work for large sites. This makes it complex when you want to hire a flexible or permanent employee. Legislation also changes quickly, and every piece of the puzzle lies with a different partner: the government, social secretariats, Bouwunie, Embuild… This complexity slows down digitalization. Vivaldis is therefore the first to bring so many functionalities together in one tool.”

Why is BrickJobs an added value for construction entrepreneurs?

Wouter: “Those who use BrickJobs don’t have to worry. You simply create a contract and validate the hours. Beyond that, you have no administrative concerns. The tool automatically generates Dimona certificates and works with a digital workstation sheet at the safety level. Temporary unemployment due to bad weather is also handled in seconds. Everything is legally compliant, and employees are paid correctly. You only pay for hours worked, with no start-up costs or other extras. No cure, no pay.”

Bénédicte: “Drawing up a contract is possible 24/7. Everything is automated, so you don’t have to wait for someone to act behind the scenes. But there are real people behind our digital tool. If necessary, you can immediately get in touch with an employee via a chat function in the tool. In any case, everything is checked daily so that we don’t overlook anything.”

Wouter: “In the news feed, you can follow the latest regulations. Think of flexi-jobs or the semi-annual indexation. If a new digital tool is released, we will integrate it.”

What are the first reactions from the sector?

Wouter: “Very positive. The flexibility is especially appreciated, which is handy for replacing a sick employee at the last minute. There is no more administrative hassle or time lost afterwards filling in all kinds of documents or control papers.”
